What I’ve Learned So Far

turning-point-1Before starting at Turning Point, I did not understand the importance of who we are and what takes place during office hours (and even after hours). I didn’t know what I was getting into when accepting such a job. I didn’t really know what a pregnancy resource center meant. However, I felt God nudging me to go forward into such a position knowing there would be much to learn. Boy, has that happened. I’ve learned that this is a pretty close to perfect job for me: creating, teaching and building (new) relationships. These are all things I love and would be happy doing for the rest of my life no matter where I am. I’ve also noticed the importance of community again and again and again. Without every staff member, volunteer, prayer warrior and donors there is no way Turning Point would still exist. There would be no way I could finish any project without our volunteers and the help of others! It’s beautiful to see the hands and feet of God working and flourishing. Each person’s gift shines forth and it’s such a blessing to be a part of and work alongside one another to serve a greater purpose. It has also been wonderful to see how the community has helped us. Many businesses have supported us and donated numerous gifts for our volunteer appreciation dinner and the Bar J silent auction. Thank you for your continued support, love and encouragement. It has certainly helped me transition into a job that I never knew I wanted.

A Note from Sheila – Nurse Manager

turning-point-2I was thinking recently about the importance of “right timing”. God says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” It was God’s timing that brought me to Turning Point in January 2013. I also saw his timing in moving Judy, Alissa and I into our current positions. God had this all planned out and I am thankful for His work in our lives. So often I am impatient for things to happen but I must remember to wait on the Lord for His time because it is always best.

We are so glad we had the privilege to teach “Relationship Education” at Summit High School this past year. We continue to ask God to open the doors to the middle school and high school in His time. We would love to help our teens make the best choices for their lives. Please continue to pray for and support Turning Point as we seek to help all those who come through our doors. Thank you for all you prayers and support! We could not do this work without you.
